The Grafton Historical Society presents The Peshtigo Fire. In October 1871 America’s deadliest wildfire leveled the town of Peshtigo, killing 2500. Hear the survivor stories and tragedies from that fateful day. David Siegel, retired captain from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, has worked for several years at the Belgian Heritage Center to commemorate and memorialize the 1871 fire. He is an avid history buff and author of a book on the early history of the Green Bay Fire Department, The event will be held on Thursday, October 3rd at 6:00 P.M. at the Rose Harms Legion Post at 1340 13th Avenue, Grafton, WI. The event is Free and Open to the Public. Refreshments and cash bar are available. Feel will donations are great appreciated. All donations from this presentation will help fund the restoration of the historic Grafton Chair Factory painting Grafton Historical Society is always looking for new members. It is a great way to learn about the history of Grafton.
