Dr. Doug Soldat will present “Let’s Talk Lawns” on Thursday, October 24 at 7:00 pm. The talk, sponsored by Ozaukee Master Gardeners, will focus on how to grow a healthy lawn while protecting the environment. Soldat will provide research-based information on selecting the right grass seed to proper mowing height, weed control to watering, and environmentally safe practices. In addition, he will offer tips on how to keep lawns looking their best throughout the season and what to do about No Mow May. Soldat is a professor and turfgrass extension specialist in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Doug completed his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Soil Science from UW-Madison and earned a Ph.D. in Plant Science from Cornell University. His research and outreach programs are focused on improving turfgrass nutrient and water use efficiency. He teaches courses on turfgrass management and general soil science at the University of Wisconsin. This in-person presentation will be held at the Kacmarick Center, 885 Badger Circle, Grafton.
