Rare Wisconsin Plants Talk Focus What do Putty Root, Kitten Tails, and Yerba-de-tajo have in common? They are all listed on the Wisconsin Natural Heritage Inventory (NHI) Working List which comprises species known or suspected to be rare in the state, along with natural communities and geological features native to Wisconsin. Should we be concerned about rare plants in Wisconsin? Join Kevin Doyle, a prominent botanist with the Wisconsin DNR who is working within the Bureau of Natural Heritage Conservation, to learn about these plants, where they can be found, and why we should care about them. Along the way, Doyle will dig into rare plant ecology, biology, distribution, and what the DNR is doing to protect them. We’ll also see examples of how amateur plant enthusiasts can get involved in rare plant conservation throughout Wisconsin. “Wisconsin Rare Plant ID & Monitoring Program” sponsored by Ozaukee Master Gardeners, will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 pm via Zoom.
