Shapson Presents All About Mushrooms Talk Steve Shapson, a man of many interests and talents, will be presenting, “All About Mushrooms” at Ozaukee Master Gardeners’ April 27 meeting at 7 PM. Shapson’s talk, via Zoom, will focus on edible mushroom species that can be grown without a lot of fancy equipment and climate controlled facilities, the dos and don’t for foraging for mushrooms, the mushroom life cycle, and a few fun fungi stories. A fan of everything mushrooms, Shapson was the president of the Wisconsin Mycological Society, has presented many workshops on mushrooms including featured on Wisconsin Public Radio and TV, and been a featured guest instructor at the The Ridges Conservation Center and a prominent guest speaker at the Telluride Mushroom Festival. As a ‘food connoisseur’ Shapson has embraced the aspects of slow food and gourmet cooking including cultivating and foraging gourmet edible mushrooms, growing organic food and wasabi, home brewing, BBQ, beekeeping, sourdough bread, cheese and yogurt making, and the cultivation of fig trees.
