Meet First Lady Dolley Madison as portrayed by noted historic interpreter, Jessica Michna. Charming, flamboyant and strong-willed, the wife of Founding Father and fourth President James Madison defied adversity and became the Grand Dame of Washington.
Born into a Quaker family, Dolley was raised to be obedient and well behaved. Early in her life she married a man selected by her father. Widowed at an early age, she was then courted by Congressman James Madison. We meet Dolley as she returns to Washington after the death of President Madison and the loss of Montpellier.
