Charles Bleau grew up in the rustic beauty of Marquette, Michigan. He inherited a knack for art from his father who had an innate talent for creativity. He started with pencils and crayons in his early years and later advanced to mechanical drawing and design. He enlisted in the Navy and assumed photography as a hobby. He enjoyed composing photos behind the camera and in the darkroom.
He was afforded the opportunity to shoot photos on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger and in Northern California, Hawaii, Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. Upon returning to college in Marquette, Michigan, Charles became the photographer for the student newspaper “The North Wind” and fill-in and contributing photographer for the Marquette Mining Journal. Throughout his working career he has always produced technical drawings and designs for various electronic products. Once retired, he had more time to develop his artistic skills. Charles took numerous arts-related classes in Wisconsin and Coastal Georgia. More recently he has provided works for the Ozaukee Historical Society. Charles’ enjoyment of the outdoors led him to participate in plein air events in Michigan, Wisconsin and Georgia. He is a member of the Cedarburg Artists Guild, the Cedarburg Cultural Center and the Mequon-Thiensville Senior Arts League, as well as the Jekyll Island Arts Association and Glynn Visual Arts in southeast Georgia.
The artist will be demonstrating at the CCC on August 2, 3, 6: 11am-2pm and August 7, 9, 17, 20, 23: 12-3pm.
